The Holiday Season & Gift Giving With Celiac

The holiday season is upon us. And if whether you have celiac disease like I do, you eat gluten-free for other health reasons, or you have a friend that's gluten-free or was recently diagnosed with celiac disease, deciding what to buy them this year can be tricky!

Food can be a big source of anxiety for those with celiac disease. What you'll find in this list is a combination of gift ideas for all types of gluten-free folks to help them eat well, explore widely, and live confidently.

What about No Gift Holidays?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing a no-gift holiday.

Dylan and I have done them in the past and find them to be absolutely liberating. So if gift-giving isn't your thing, you're trying to be more mindful of your spending, or for any reason you aren't doing gifts this year, but you're still looking for ways to support a gluten-free person in your life, here are some ideas:

-Take a trip to a gluten-free restaurant or bakery together. Watch the smile on their face when they can order whatever they like without worry!

-Learn to make a new gluten-free recipe together. Let them show you how to prepare their food safely so you know what to be careful of.

-Visit a museum, go for a hike, or take a walk somewhere together. Plan a day that doesn't include activities focused on food.

Small Businesses That Support Celiacs

Remember that many gluten-free & celiac safe companies are small businesses. Orders during the holiday season can be busy so please be patient! Purchasing from your local and small businesses in the gluten-free community is a wonderful way to show support. Many of the items listed here are from fellow gluten-free small business owners.
